As kids, we only made popcorn on the stove. We still do, we love it, especially in pots with glass lids. Food altering states in vessels is magic. Perhaps anything we cannot fully see is magic. The ice dilutes a drink as it’s shaken. Imagine we are the one doing the shaking. To pour a thing into another thing. Imagine a kernel slowly warming, molecules intensely vibrating until something bursts, rockets upward and bounces off the edge of something else. We only feel the enclosures that trap us once we warm enough to encounter their edges. A delightful ping. Someone asks, “Is it painful?”
